Today is Day 10 of the Seeking Moments Challenge! Ten days. I am a third of the way to my finish line goal of picking up something I had put down this pandemic. Ten days of committing to seeking joy. Looking for positivity. Inserting control amidst chaos. Ten days, too, of being brave enough to show up. To bare my soul to anyone who is in a space where they want to see, to listen, to join. To be courageous enough to be vulnerable (with myself and also with all of you), to share my feelings without my own self-criticism, every day, no matter what. To unbox my thoughts and let go of any hopes of perfection, instead finding beauty in the what-already-is. To reach out to the masses of people I do know (and those I don’t yet know) and knock on your door, putting my whole soul on a silver platter, out there into a very public space. To seek out the good, acknowledging the hard, just always looking for the good. But, nevertheless, onward, with my aim consistent: to find something positive from which I can grow…that might inspire you, too. To shift my perspective, and encourage you to change yours. To hold on solely to my heart and to let go of all the rest. This world is messy and odd and confusing and sad….but too, there is golden hour, and evenings with live music floating in the air, and old friends on the other end of the phone, and family who adores you no matter what. Even at the worst of times, there is good. Always, there is good. And my hope is that in my showing up, others of you might feel invited to do the same.
And here we go…
Day 10
Moon Rise
My moment today is one of thanks for a spectacular moon rise over the ocean. I’ve never seen one quite like it. Lit as if from a fire glow, a deep orangey red, it crested above the crashing surf, lighting the horizon with Mars flickering red just ahead of it. I am humbled by these simple yet majestic gifts of magic from the great beyond that we get to see each day. Thank you, universe. Good night, moon.
