So much to be thankful for in just a few hours span of time.
Baseball. A sport my boys have fallen head over heels in love with over the last few months. Watching them breathe it and dream it and follow it and learn it and devour it, is a sight to behold. This interest was piqued when their best friend neighbors opened their hearts and shared their great love. They are from baseball families and they have played since they could hold a bat. Actually, I suppose our guys technically are from baseball families too… though neither my husband nor I played with any great amount of skill, all of our brothers were solid players. Regardless, they played tee ball a hundred years ago and then set the sport down. Watching them pick it back up, this time with hungry hearts, is a delight to observe.
Friendship. Their team this season is an awesome mashup of siblings and best buds. There are three pairs of brothers, and plenty of friends new and old to go around. They are having so much fun together at practices and tonight was their first game. It was a quintessential American pastime, playing on the big field, under the lights….a first for both boys. We got to witness in the park grand slams, one for each team. There was a chill in the air as the last strike was thrown and we all cheered and clapped and smiled.
Grandparents. It was so fun tonight to catch a glimpse of three of the boys’ grandparents (and pup) sitting in the stands cheering for them as they rounded the bases and fielded balls. How lucky my husband and I are to have both sets of parents who live within a few minutes. We get to see them often and casually. It is a gift we do not take lightly and it means the world to us to be able to see them as frequently as we do.
Baseball. Friendship. Grandparents.
Simple. Beautiful. Awesome.
